In this episode of “Pioneers in Medicine,” Harmik J. Soukiasian, MD, chief of thoracic surgery at Cedars-Sinai shares his thoughts on how thoracic surgery has adapted to the use of robotics. Right now, Soukiasian says only about 50 percent of lung surgeries are done minimally invasively. However, the three-dimensional visualization offered by robotics technology – which allows physicians to take a video-assisted or open approach – is helping advance the trend.
