Vascular Surgery
Dr. Ali Azizzadeh is an internationally recognized surgeon, researcher, and educator who specializes in the minimally invasive treatment of vascular disease. As a board certified vascular surgeon, his areas of expertise include aortic aneurysms, aortic dissection, carotid disease, peripheral arterial disease, thoracic outlet syndrome, and varicose veins. Dr. Azizzadeh earned his medical degree and completed a general surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. He then completed a vascular surgery fellowship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, affiliated with Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. Before joining the staff at Cedars-Sinai in 2017, he served as a tenured Professor and Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth and the Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute in Houston, TX. Dr. Azizzadeh actively participates in research on novel surgical techniques, stent grafts, and other devices and has served as US Principal Investigator for several clinical trials. He has authored or co-authored more than 370 scientific publications, abstracts, and book chapters in medical journals and textbooks. He has delivered more than 280 invited lectures on various vascular surgery topics to local, regional, national, and international audiences. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Azizzadeh is a member of many other medical associations, including the Society for Vascular Surgery, the International Society for Vascular Surgery, the Western Vascular Society, the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, the Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery, the Association for Academic Surgery, and the American Heart Association. In addition, he is the Founder and President of the Aortic Trauma Foundation. Dr. Azizzadeh serves on the Editorial Board of Endovascular Today and is an invited reviewer for numerous publications including the Annals of Vascular Surgery, Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, The Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, and the Journal of Vascular Surgery. Dr. Azizzadeh's honors include awards for excellence in teaching and research, as well as being named among the Top Doctors by the Houston Chronicle, Houstonia Magazine, and Los Angeles Magazine multiple years.
