Overview
This symposium will provide general pediatricians, family practitioners , physicians assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners as well as all other interested clinicians with comprehensive information on recent clinical advances in pediatrics, including state-of-the-art diagnoses, potential solutions for problems encountered in practice, and clinical recommendations that will enhance skills in providing optimal care for pediatric patients. Topics will include discussions in genetics, pediatric infectious disease, neonatal issues, updates in pediatric urology and gastroenterology, as well as critical advances in neurology and surgery. Participants can receive American Board of Pediatrics Maintenance of Certification points for their active participation in this course. 

Objectives

  1. Examine the most current evidence-based ideal surrounding pediatrics and the role of the microbiome in many different diseases processes
  2. Manage the specialist referral process based on assessment of when to refer, recognition of what the specialized treatment will involve, and how best to coordinate care and follow up
  3. Recognize the value of patient education and shared decision-making to improve quality of care and optimize disease outcomes
