The 20th Annual Emergency Medicine Symposium: A Practical Update is a cutting-edge course that will provide participants with the latest clinical information to support the delivery of fast and accurate diagnoses and treatment decisions. Expert faculty will share their broad knowledge and clinical expertise, energy, and commitment to emergency medicine. This one-day activity will cover current and emerging trends in the emergency department (ED) and will include content on modern resuscitation, current hot topics will include non-opiate alternatives to pain management, best practice management for atrial fibrillation and flutter often seen in the emergency department. We will begin to explore and possibly define long COVID and PASC. An expert in ultrasound will teach us how transesophageal echo can be done and used by emergency physicians to asses quality of resuscitation.  The best practices to care for the geriatric population in the emergency department will be reviewed and the very latest articles in trauma and emergency care will be discussed.  We will have a special guest lecturer talk about how to identify and treat new emerging pathogens.  Finally, we will have a discussion on how to combat compassion fatigue and rules to live by as an emergency care providers.
